Couldn't attend our last professional development workshop? Here's what you missed.

YNPN’s Professional Development Series took them to QLI’s Leadership Lab on May 31st. QLI is a national leader in providing excellent rehabilitation for individuals suffering brain and spinal cord injuries. QLI has also been voted a seven-time Baird Holm Best Place to Work in Omaha, and is recognized for its outstanding leadership and work culture, continuously improving since QLI was founded in 1990.

Attendees broke out into small groups and rotated through four presentations revolving around leadership. Topics included how to have healthy conflict in the workplace, creating raving fans in the customer base, building pride among employees, and learning about a coaching model for employees. Presenters were various leaders at QLI and included:

Patricia Kearns, CEO & President 
Kristin Carbullido, Director of Clinical Services
Steve Kerschke, Director of Marketing
Nash Mahupete, Director and Vice President of Residential Services
Jon Pearson, Creative Director

Attendees had the opportunity to participate in discussions about situations that have arisen in their own workplaces or ask questions about how to apply what they learning about. While the various sessions were brief, attendees left with tangible ways to implement leadership skills and strategies they learned about during these presentations. They also were left with recommendations and suggestions of reading materials, including the book Raving Fans by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles and the Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. It also is recognized that many of these leadership concepts come from Kim Hoogeveen, the founder of QLI, who has since gone on to create the MindSet Leadership Series (MindSet LLC).
