5:30 | Network with young nonprofit professionals and meet other YP organizations.

6:30 | Keynote Speaker, Buey Ray Tut of Aqua-Africa, will share his experiences on how to stay motivated and engaged in the sector.

At the end of the evening we will announce our Emerging Nonprofit Leader Award winner and raffle off some fun door prizes.

Our three award finalists are:

Julie Smith, One Omaha

Julie Smith is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Omaha with a Master’s of Science in Urban Studies. Julie is naturally inclined to work in pursuit of a healthier democracy. Starting community organizing at 19, Julie emphasizes the importance of cultural richness to enhance civic engagement and has hosted numerous public events and established an annual music and arts gathering. While earning her graduate degree she worked with 100+ regional and metropolitan area nonprofit organizations as she coordinated UNO’s service events.

She was hired on as program manager of the Office of Neighborhood Engagement (ONE) in February 2015. ONE Omaha’s mission is to actively facilitate the development of neighborhoods in the City of Omaha through advocacy, development, and education of Omaha’s neighborhood alliances and associations. She is honored to serve and elevate the tireless effort of Omaha's most passionate volunteers and civic leaders. 

Jeff Skalberg, United Way of the Midlands

Jeff Skalberg is a community relations professional who specializes in employee engagement, corporate social responsibility and nonprofit management. Jeff currently serves as the Director, Corporate Relations at United Way of the Midlands where he works side-by-side with hundreds of companies in the Omaha Metro, helping them create strong volunteer and employee engagement strategies.

Jeff’s educational background includes a MPA from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a B.S. in Business from Bellevue University. Outside of work, Jeff is engaged in volunteer activities including the Young Professionals Council at United Way of the Midlands and the Engagement Council at the Greater Omaha Chamber. Jeff also serves as a Scrubs Ambassador for the Children’s Hospital & Medical Center.

When Jeff isn’t working to end poverty in the Omaha Metro, he likes to golf, travel and play guitar.

Ryan Morrissey, NeighborWorks Home Solutions

 Ryan Morrissey is the Director of Community Building & Engagement for NeighborWorks® Home Solutions, which specializes in providing single and multi-family affordable housing opportunities and community development. Prior to NeighborWorks Home Solutions, Ryan gained experience with community development at the neighborhood level and working with diverse populations from his time working for the Empowerment Network in Omaha. He is also a very active member of the Benson Neighborhood Association. Ryan obtained his B.S. in Public Administration from University of Nebraska-Kearney and a graduate from University of Nebraska-Omaha with a Master’s of Science in Urban Studies.

As the Director of Community Building & Engagement, he serves as liaison between NeighborWorks® Home Solutions and community neighborhoods. He works to plan, formulate, coordinate and implement neighborhood revitalization strategies to achieve neighborhood, agency, and city objectives.
